We are about to celebrate 14 years!

The Knowlton Literary Festival is the sole English literary festival between Montreal and Quebec City, and draws participants from across the Eastern Townships, Montreal, Ontario and the United States.

The festival is organized and presented annually by the Knowlton Literary Association to:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality programming/activities that celebrate and contribute to the literary culture of the English-speaking community;
  • Introduce participants to the work of outstanding writers;
  • Encourage, promote and better equip local writers, both published and non-published;
  • Foster literacy (text, oral, visual) amongst participants of all ages and backgrounds, and
  • Promote community interaction, break social isolation and build a strong sense of regional cultural identity.

Our 13th Annual Knowlton Literary Festival has just wrapped up, and we were fortunate to be able to return to our traditional format of hosting the Festival live at the Lac Brome Community Centre. Plans begin soon for our 14th Festival... so stay tuned to this website for excited details!

The Festival is organized by a small group of active volunteers, allowing us to keep administrative costs minimal. We are thankful for support from the following: Brome Lake Books, Brome Lake Masonic Lodge #35, ELAN (English Language Arts Network), Knowlton Lions Club, MRC Brome Missisquoi, Townshippers’ Foundation, Ville de Lac-Brome, and many generous private donors.

We invite you to join us! Your support is appreciated.
